Rina Grassotti has extensive experience both as a litigator and a transactional attorney. Rina spent nearly a decade as a commercial litigator for a prominent New Jersey law firm, where she defended institutional clients in New York and New Jersey in a wide range of areas including complex commercial/contract disputes, employment law (race, gender, age, disability and other types of discrimination, retaliation, hostile work environment, harassment/bullying, wage and hour and labor issues), insurance and reinsurance defense, personal injury and other tort claims, intellectual property, due process and other constitutional rights, student dismissals and discipline, appeals, class actions, product liability and legal malpractice. As a litigator, Rina obtained favorable outcomes for her clients by way of numerous trials and hearings, dispositive motions and settlements. Rina also conducted internal investigations into allegations of discrimination, harassment, bullying and retaliation. In addition, she regularly counseled clients in a variety of areas ranging from employee handbooks and policies to wage and hour issues to termination decisions and severance packages.
Rina currently serves as Associate General Counsel for a college in New York City. In that capacity, Rina has had a wealth of experience in drafting, revising and negotiating contracts with corporate sponsors, vendors and other third parties. She also provides legal advice to senior administrators on a wide range of matters including compliance with federal and state laws and regulations, policy and governance, risk assessment, intellectual property, employee and student issues, internal investigations, commercial transactions, contract negotiation and interpretation, real estate issues, charitable donations, policy drafting and revising, privacy rights, record retention, insurance issues and potential and pending litigation.
Rina is a self-proclaimed “people person” who genuinely enjoys working with her clients. In her spare time, Rina can be found practicing yoga, or at home with her two French Bulldogs, Cayenne and Bubbles.
